Depending on the height and width of the door, our 2″ XXL doors are available in Solid, Tubular or Honeycomb Core. Most door companies do not even mention the thickness of their doors. Remember that our 2″ thick XXL doors outperform any american or italian door, with any core.
Insensation’s Solid Core doors are generally overkill with our 2″ doors, they sometimes make sense in recording studios, banks and schools. The solid core 2″ leafs, in combination with self-closing hinges and drop-down seals, are also used where a fire-rating is needed. They generally weigh more than 200 lbs.
Insensation’s Tubular core offers outstanding sound protection and is significantly heavy, without the disadvantages of solid core door. Tubular doors have a very low thickness swelling and a very high impact resistance. Tubular core is the standard core used on high-end real-estate in both Europe and the USA. Our 2″ tubular core doors perform better than a thin american or italian 1 3/8 or 1 3/4″ door.
Insensation’s Honeycomb Core is a hexagonal shaped strong and lightweight core made of 100% recycled paper. It has high pressure strength and is FSC-certified. Because all of our doors are XXL 2″ thick and with a very thick skin, even the honeycomb core doors are quite heavy.
